Good Vibe Society – Have A Good Weekend

Posted in Irish Hip Hop Downloads with tags , , , , , , , , on June 17, 2012 by craicmusic

Cheers!

Cork’s giant ode to YOU having a good weekend is here. Brosy, D’Beats and Mickey Gatch together have created 19 tracks of bouncin’ party infused hip hop with hilarious rhymes and off-the-wall attitude.

Good Vibe Society – Hip Hop Is Dead (After School) feat. Bony, Nash & cuts by Jus Me

There’s a hint of Beastie Boys back-to-back rapping combined with a De La Soul-style humour over the beats. And the beats, D’Beats has had a field-day on Have A Good Weekend, providing a selection of insanely upbeat vibes but there’s also some curve-balls in there to keep your attention. ‘Hip Hop Is Dead (After School)’, ‘The Good Stuff’ and ‘Dreaming The Life’ show the versatility of the producer and vocal samples are aptly chosen on ‘The Weekend Has Landed’ and ‘King Of Gibberish’.

‘Greatest Hits’ will satisfy the majority of classic hip hop fans, Brosy and Gatch effortlessly trading gems word for word. ‘Good Vibe Society’ has Brosy offering “I’ll sell my soul to get my hole off Cheryl Cole” and a number of  side-splitting references giving an insight into his insanely genius mind.

‘No Woman, No Fry’ was an instant-hit with me because I was a fan of D’Beats ‘I Wake Up’ instrumental before the vocal and the Bob Marley inspired chorus is straight Good Vibe Society shiiit!

The is a perfect summer hip hop release and the 19-tracks are well worth the €8, purchase now via Paypal

Spekulativ Fiktion – Double Album Promo

Posted in News with tags , , , , on May 20, 2011 by craicmusic

Cork’s Spekulativ Fiktion is set to return this summer with a double-disk album after the successful but ridiculously lengthy titled “Living Proof That The Pen Is Mightier Than The Sword EP” (download here).

Disk 1 is going to be ‘straight up dirty beat style’ with the second disk changing to a more ‘experimental terrain’. It will be interesting to see how that works out, it’s not evident in the video promo the extent of experimentation, but the preview is nice. JusMe on the beats laying some easy, head-nodding sounds.

It will be a summer release, with more details hopefully soon. In the mean time check:

Cork Hip Hop Project – Get Involved!

Posted in Irish Hip Hop Events with tags , , , , , on May 15, 2011 by craicmusic

Budding MCs, singers, musicians, DJs and beatboxers should take note of the latest hip hop project starting in Cork this September.

Co-ordinated by GMC, he’s experienced in running workshops with schools and youth clubs, developing the ‘new skool’ talent in Ireland, most of which can be heard here!

“There are limited spaces for this new project that will be happening in Cork city starting in September. The overall aim of the project is to write, record, produce and promote a music album from scratch. We need rappers, singers, musicians, DJs, beatboxers to collaborate with each other on this. We will also arrange gigs to showcase the work as well as a website. You need to be 16 by September 2011 (If you are a year or two younger and feel that something like this would be of huge benefit to you then tell us why and we MIGHT be able to fit you in). This project is free of charge. If we have large numbers interested we may run a second project simultaneously.

This is a great opportunity to participate in recording a hip hop album for free and learn some valuable experience.

There’s only a couple of days left to apply so make sure to go to GMCbeats.com right away!

Alias Irish – “Stab you with a parka pen like Joe Pesci”

Posted in Irish Hip Hop Audio with tags , , , , , , on January 12, 2011 by craicmusic

Alias Irish is originally from the Rebel County but now lives in London. An experienced wordsmith turning 32 this year, Alias boasts collaborations with the pioneering forces of Irish hip hop, RíRá, Exile Eye & DJ Mek. Featuring on 2009’s essential “Horses Work For Donkeys Wages” LP on ‘Knuckles Up’.

The debut solo release is nearing completion but it hasn’t been an easy process. After suffering the aftermath of a devastating gun incident in his family, Alias was in a dark place and it led him to a brief incarceration. Hip Hop has been the shining light and a chance to set things straight before moving on. The passion drives the music here, the rebel county flow is undeniable. Have a listen and see!
