Nostalgic Future

Posted in Irish Hip Hop Audio with tags , , , , , , on March 31, 2011 by craicmusic

Nostalgic Future is the exciting new project being kept quiet by Lethal Dialect & G.I.
Craic Music has two tracks taken off the following CD and hear the interesting preview of what to expect.

Nostalgic Future – The Business

The project will be entirely different to the LD50 series; Set for a summer release date, Nostalgic Future, in Lethal’s words are “a mashup of trance, dubstep, dance and hip-hop”. The change from hard-hitting, boom bap rap to an electronic style comes as a natural progression to both MC and producer.
Drawing inspiration from their youthful upbringing in Dublin’s rave scene, Lethal & G.I. are embracing their musical influences in a new way as Nostalgic Future.

Nostalgic Future – Rollin’ In The Deep (Remix)

The verses are kept to a minimum on both tracks which is a shame because they are quality rhymers. We’re told to expect more bars and hooks on their other tracks as they mix things up a bit.
It’s a promising sound and Craic Music will keep a close eye on any breaking developments.

For those wondering about LD50 2, it’s scheduled for a Winter release

Seaz 420 – Fomorians (Side 1 & 2)

Posted in Irish Hip Hop Audio with tags , , , , , , , , , , on March 11, 2011 by craicmusic

Some vintage Irish hip hop with a wicked line-up of MCs. Seaz 420, hip hop producer from Belfast, has kindly uploaded an old archived set originally recorded on tape up online via SoundCloud. Course the sound quality is a bit gully, but you know how Craic Music rolls.

Over the immensly chilled out sounds Seaz 420 produced, expect to hear the likes of Slaine (Team Fresh), Dunbar, Dexter144, Noize Thievery, Cullo (CuCullen), Terawrizt, Reck TMN, Bee Mick See, Freestate, FUBE & many more.

Both Side A & B clock in at 46 mins individually, so there’s a lot to listen to here, enjoy.

Lupe Fiasco looking for an Irish Hip Hop artist

Posted in News with tags , , , on March 6, 2011 by craicmusic

A unusal opportunity for Irish MCs was announced earlier this week. Spin 103.8 FM  are hosting a competition,  the winner getting a verse from popular US hip hop artist, Lupe Fiasco, on their track.
A decent opportunity for some extra exposure the press release stated:

The search kicks off this Monday (March 7th) and the wannabe ‘Superstars’ have two weeks to send in a copy of one of their tracks (closing date is 18th March). Ryan and Tracy will announce the three finalists on the 28th March but it will be Lupe who will have the final say on ultimately who is crowned the winner. The song has to be playable on the radio and remember Lupe is not your stereotypical rapper.

‘… you know I don’t like to talk about the gangster gangster stuff and booty shaking and stuff like that, if you bring a nice record … we’ll pick the best one and I’ll do a verse on it and we’ll play it on the radio’.

If you have what it takes, and want Lupe Fiasco on your song, get your track into the most music station, Spin 1038 now:

POSTAL ADDRESS: Rap Superstar, Spin 1038, Level 3, South Block, The Malthouse, Grand Canal Quay, Dublin 2

EMAIL: rapsuperstar@spin1038.com

I’m not sure about the ‘wannabe superstars’ talk, it might show in the judging, nonetheless it’s a decent comp and relies on the strength of entrants. If you are interested you know what to do.
